ultimate gooey campfire smores dip - featured image

A quick and easy dessert dip combining melted semi-sweet chocolate and toasted mini marshmallows, perfect for cozy gatherings around a campfire or indoors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 cups (100g) mini marshmallows
  • Graham crackers for dipping
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • Optional pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or prepare a medium-hot campfire with glowing embers.
  2. Lightly butter the bottom and sides of a 9-inch (23cm) oven-safe skillet or cast iron pan.
  3. Pour 1 cup (170g) of semi-sweet chocolate chips evenly into the skillet.
  4. Dot the chocolate chips with 2 tablespoons (30g) of softened unsalted butter and drizzle 1 teaspoon (5ml) of vanilla extract over the top.
  5. Place the skillet in the oven or over campfire embers and let the chocolate and butter melt slowly for about 5-7 minutes, watching carefully to avoid scorching.
  6. Remove the skillet carefully and immediately top with 2 cups (100g) of mini marshmallows, spreading them evenly.
  7. Return the skillet to the heat source for another 3-5 minutes, or until the marshmallows are toasted golden brown. If using an oven, switch to broil for the last 1-2 minutes, watching closely.
  8. Remove from heat and serve immediately with graham crackers for dipping.

Notes

Use mini marshmallows for even toasting. Watch the broil carefully to avoid burning marshmallows. For campfire cooking, place skillet on embers, not direct flames, and rotate occasionally. Serve immediately as the dip hardens when cooled. Variations include adding nuts, peanut butter swirl, or using vegan/dairy-free ingredients for dietary needs.
