A fast and impressive air fryer lobster tail recipe featuring crispy edges and a bright, rich lemon butter sauce. Perfect for busy nights or special occasions with minimal fuss.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 fresh lobster tails, 6-8 ounces (170-225g) each
  • 4 tablespoons (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (from about 1 medium lemon)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Sea salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
  • Cooking spray or oil, for air fryer basket

Instructions

  1. Using kitchen shears, carefully cut down the top shell of each lobster tail, stopping just before the tail fin. Gently pull the meat out of the shell, keeping it attached at the base, and rest it on top of the shell. (About 10 minutes)
  2. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine. (5 minutes)
  3. Using a pastry brush, generously brush the lemon butter sauce over the exposed lobster meat. Reserve some sauce for serving. Season lightly with additional salt and pepper if desired. (5 minutes)
  4. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray or oil to prevent sticking. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place the lobster tails in the basket with the meat side up, making sure they don’t overlap. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, depending on size—lobster meat should be opaque and reach an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). Halfway through cooking (around 4-5 minutes), brush with additional lemon butter sauce for extra flavor and moisture.
  6. Once cooked, remove the lobster tails carefully with tongs. Drizzle remaining lemon butter sauce on top and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking and crispiness. Brush lobster tails with lemon butter sauce twice—before and halfway through cooking—to keep meat moist and flavorful. Use a meat thermometer to check for an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C) to avoid overcooking. Let lobster rest for a minute before serving to redistribute juices. For dairy-free options, substitute butter with vegan butter or olive oil. Frozen lobster tails can be used if fully thawed.
