A crispy garlic-infused bread paired with gooey, melty cheese creates the ultimate comfort food experience. Perfect for quick lunches or indulgent dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 4 slices of bread (sourdough or sturdy bread)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella and cheddar mix)
  • 2 slices of provolone (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or additional butter (for grilling)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined to create your garlic butter spread.
  2. Spread a generous layer of garlic butter on one side of each bread slice. Make sure to cover the edges for maximum flavor.
  3. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat. Add a little butter or olive oil to the pan to prevent sticking.
  4. Place two slices of bread, buttered side down, on the hot skillet. Quickly layer the shredded cheese and provolone on top.
  5. Cover the cheese with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side up. Gently press down with a spatula.
  6. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, flipping carefully. The bread should be golden and crispy, and the cheese fully melted.
  7. Remove from heat and let the sandwiches cool for a minute before slicing. Serve immediately for the best gooey texture.

Notes

[‘Cook the sandwich slowly over medium heat to ensure the cheese melts completely without burning the bread.’, ‘Mix mozzarella for gooeyness and cheddar for flavor. Adding provolone takes it to the next level.’, ‘Use sturdy bread to avoid sogginess.’, ‘Experiment with add-ins like red pepper flakes or tomato slices for extra flavor.’]
