This creamy, cheesy tuna noodle casserole is the ultimate comfort food, perfect for cozy dinners and family-friendly meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces egg noodles
  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna packed in water or oil, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: garlic powder, paprika, chopped celery, or mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the egg noodles according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth. Stir in half of the shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Gently fold in the cooked noodles, canned tuna (drained), and frozen peas until evenly combined.
  5. Transfer the noodle mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out in an even layer.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese evenly over the top.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter until combined. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the casserole.
  8. Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the casserole is bubbling around the edges.
  10. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

[‘Don’t overcook the noodles; al dente is key as they’ll continue to soften during baking.’, ‘Shred your own cheese for better melting.’, ‘Use fresh breadcrumbs for a crunchier topping.’, ‘Taste the mixture before adding extra salt as canned soups and tuna can be salty.’, ‘Switch your oven to broil for the last 2-3 minutes if the breadcrumb topping isn’t browning evenly.’]
