Irresistible Mini Taco Pies

These Mini Taco Pies pack all the flavors of your favorite tacos into a perfectly baked, handheld pie, making them ideal for cozy fall dinners or casual gatherings.

  • Store-bought or homemade pie dough
  • 1 lb lean ground beef (or substitute with ground turkey or plant-based meat)
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup salsa (mild or spicy based on preference)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup black beans (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup diced bell peppers
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg (beaten for egg wash)
  • Optional toppings: sour cream, jalapeños, chopped cilantro, avocado slices

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease your muffin tin.
  2. Roll out your pie dough on a floured surface and use a round cookie cutter to cut circles large enough to line each muffin cup.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and bell peppers, cooking until softened (about 5 minutes).
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Stir in taco seasoning and salsa, and cook for another 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Line each muffin cup with a circle of pie dough, pressing gently to cover the bottom and sides. Spoon the taco filling into each cup, filling about 3/4 of the way. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Cut smaller dough circles and place them on top of the filling, pressing the edges to seal. Brush with egg wash for a golden crust.
  7. Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crisp.
  8. Let the pies cool in the tin for 5 minutes before carefully removing them with a knife or spatula.
