This irresistible honey baked ham recipe for your slow cooker is easy to prepare and creates a tender, juicy, and flavorful centerpiece for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 78 pounds fully cooked bone-in ham (spiral cut preferred)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Remove the ham from its packaging and pat it dry with paper towels. If spiral cut, place it cut-side down in the slow cooker. For non-sliced ham, score the surface with shallow cuts in a diamond pattern.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine honey, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, ground cloves, garlic powder, orange juice, and melted butter. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the glaze over the ham, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Use a basting brush or spoon to cover all surfaces and get the glaze into the slices.
  4. Cover the slow cooker with its lid and set it to low heat. Cook the ham for 4-5 hours, basting it with the remaining glaze every hour. The internal temperature should reach 140°F (60°C).
  5. For a caramelized finish, transfer the ham to a baking sheet lined with foil after cooking. Brush it with the remaining glaze and broil for 3-4 minutes. Watch closely to avoid burning.
  6. Let the ham rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Arrange on a serving platter and drizzle with any remaining glaze.

Notes

[‘Spiral cut hams are ideal for this recipe as they allow the glaze to seep into each slice.’, ‘Regularly basting the ham with the glaze ensures every bite is flavorful and moist.’, ‘Monitor the broiling step closely to avoid burning the glaze.’, ‘Leftover ham can be used for sandwiches, soups, casseroles, or breakfast scrambles.’]
