These irresistible ham and cheese sliders are the ultimate party appetizer, featuring buttery rolls, gooey melted cheese, savory ham, and a tangy mustard-poppy seed topping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slider rolls (Hawaiian rolls or soft dinner rolls)
  • 9 oz sliced ham (thinly sliced deli ham or leftover ham)
  • 6 oz sliced Swiss cheese (or cheddar or provolone)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional)
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Use a serrated knife to slice the rolls horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact. Place the bottom halves in the prepared baking dish.
  3. Arrange the ham slices evenly over the bottom halves of the rolls, followed by the Swiss cheese slices. Place the tops of the rolls back on.
  4. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Dijon mustard, honey (if using), poppy seeds, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
  5. Use a pastry brush to generously spread the buttery mixture over the tops of the rolls.
  6. Cover the sliders with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and slightly crispy.
  8. Let the sliders cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

[‘Covering the sliders with foil ensures even melting of the cheese without over-browning the tops.’, ‘Use fresh rolls for the best texture.’, ‘Customize the buttery topping with cayenne or Italian seasoning for added flavor.’, ‘Assemble the sliders ahead of time and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.’]
