These Ghost Popcorn Balls are fun, festive, and surprisingly easy to make, combining buttery popcorn with sweet marshmallow goodness for a spooky Halloween treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 cups freshly popped popcorn (plain or lightly salted)
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Candy eyes for decoration
  • Optional: Chocolate chips, colored icing, or sprinkles for extra decoration

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn: Start by popping 10 cups of popcorn. Place the popcorn in a large mixing bowl and remove any unpopped kernels.
  2. Melt the marshmallows: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the mini marshmallows, melted butter, and granulated sugar. Stir constantly until the marshmallows are fully melted and the mixture is smooth. Add vanilla extract and mix well.
  3. Coat the popcorn: Pour the warm marshmallow mixture over the popcorn. Use a rubber spatula to gently fold the popcorn until it’s evenly coated.
  4. Shape into balls: Let the mixture cool slightly for 1-2 minutes. Grease your hands lightly with butter or cooking spray, then scoop out portions of the coated popcorn. Shape them into balls about the size of your palm.
  5. Create ghost shapes: Pinch the tops of the popcorn balls to form a ghost-like head. Shape them creatively.
  6. Decorate: Press candy eyes onto each ghost. Add details like chocolate chip mouths or drizzle colored icing for a spooky touch.
  7. Let them set: Place the decorated ghosts on wax or parchment paper and allow them to cool and set for about 15 minutes.

Notes

Work quickly as the marshmallow mixture hardens as it cools. Grease your hands lightly to make shaping easier. Customize decorations for a unique look.
