A quick and easy recipe for perfectly seared ahi tuna steaks with a rich garlic butter sauce, ideal for weeknight dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 ounces ahi tuna steaks, fresh or frozen, sushi-grade
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the ahi tuna steaks dry with a paper towel and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together butter, minced garlic, and lemon juice. Set aside.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet or cast-iron pan over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and let it get hot for about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Place the tuna steaks in the pan and sear for 1-2 minutes on each side until the outside develops a golden crust while keeping the center rare.
  5. Remove the tuna from the pan and set aside. Lower the heat and add the garlic butter mixture to the same pan. Stir constantly for about 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant, being careful not to let it burn.
  6. Return the tuna steaks to the pan and spoon the garlic butter sauce over each piece. Cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute to coat the tuna and warm it slightly.
  7. Remove from heat and transfer the tuna to a serving plate. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve immediately.

Notes

[‘Use fresh sushi-grade tuna for the best flavor and texture.’, ‘Avoid overcooking the tuna to keep it tender and juicy.’, ‘Preheat the pan to ensure a perfect sear.’, ‘Monitor the garlic butter sauce closely to prevent burning.’, ‘Let the tuna rest for a minute before serving to retain its juiciness.’]
