This Crock Pot ham recipe with brown sugar glaze is easy to make, packed with flavor, and perfect for holidays or casual dinners. The slow cooking process ensures a moist and tender ham with a rich, sweet glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 78 pounds spiral-cut ham, fully cooked (bone-in or boneless)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Remove any packaging and plastic from the ham. Trim off the rind if desired.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine brown sugar, pineapple juice, maple syrup, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, and butter. Heat over medium-low heat, whisking constantly, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture thickens slightly (about 5 minutes).
  3. Place the ham flat-side down in the Crock Pot. Pour half of the glaze over the ham, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  4. Cover the Crock Pot and cook on low for 4–5 hours, basting occasionally with the remaining glaze. The ham is ready when it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C).
  5. For a sticky, caramelized finish, transfer the ham to a baking sheet and broil for 3–5 minutes, brushing with additional glaze.
  6. Let the ham rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Pour any remaining glaze from the Crock Pot over the slices for extra flavor.

Notes

For a less sweet glaze, reduce the brown sugar or substitute honey. Add cinnamon or nutmeg for a holiday-inspired flavor. Leftovers can be used in sandwiches, soups, or omelets.
