Handheld cheeseburger pockets combine comfort food with convenience, offering a mess-free, customizable, and delicious meal perfect for family dinners or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon mustard (optional)
  • 1 package refrigerated crescent roll dough or biscuit dough
  • 1 egg, whisked with a splash of water (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the ketchup, mustard (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat. Let the mixture cool slightly.
  4. Roll out the refrigerated dough and cut into square or rectangular pieces, depending on the size of pockets you want.
  5. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto each piece of dough. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Fold the dough over the filling and pinch the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for extra security.
  7. Place the pockets on the prepared baking sheet and brush with egg wash. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top, if desired.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the pockets are golden brown and puffed up.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Don’t overfill the pockets to prevent bursting during baking. Seal edges tightly to avoid leaks. Let the filling cool slightly before assembling to prevent soggy dough.
