A dangerously addictive treat combining salty pretzels, gooey caramel, and rich chocolate. Perfect for any occasion and easy to make!

Ingredients

Scale
  • Salted pretzels (small twists or sticks)
  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar (light or dark)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (340g) semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips
  • Optional toppings: sea salt flakes, crushed nuts, white chocolate drizzle

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×13-inch pan with parchment paper.
  2. Arrange a single layer of pretzels on the bottom of the pan.
  3. In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over medium heat. Add 1 cup of brown sugar and stir until dissolved. Let it boil gently for 3-4 minutes until thickened and golden. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the caramel over the pretzels, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  5. Bake the pan in the preheated oven for 10 minutes until the caramel bubbles and settles.
  6. Melt 2 cups of chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  7. Pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer and spread evenly with a spatula.
  8. Add optional toppings like sea salt flakes, crushed nuts, or white chocolate drizzle.
  9. Let the pan cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for 1 hour to set.
  10. Lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment overhangs, cut into squares or rectangles, and serve.

Notes

Be patient while cooking the caramel to ensure it sets properly. Let the bars come to room temperature before cutting to avoid cracking the chocolate layer.
