Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix 1 cup (240 ml) of warm water with 1 tablespoon (12 g) of sugar and 2 teaspoons (7 g) of active dry yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it’s foamy.
  2. Mix the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups (360 g) of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon (6 g) of salt, and the yeast mixture. Stir until the dough starts to come together.
  3. Knead the dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add small amounts of flour as needed to prevent sticking.
  4. First rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
