A rich and buttery cake with a melt-in-your-mouth texture and golden crust, perfect for celebrations or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 1/4 cups (250g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk, room temperature

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line the bottom of your cake pan with parchment paper and lightly grease the sides.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together using a mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Gradually add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Alternately add the dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix on low speed to avoid overmixing.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract until evenly distributed.
  7. Transfer the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  8. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. The top should be golden brown.
  9. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened but not melted. Use room-temperature eggs and milk for better incorporation. Avoid overmixing to ensure a light texture.
