A quick and easy recipe featuring Brussels sprouts roasted to crispy perfection with a sweet and tangy honey balsamic glaze. Perfect as a side dish for dinners or gatherings.

  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Trim the stem ends and remove any yellow or damaged outer leaves from the Brussels sprouts. Cut each sprout in half lengthwise.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the halved Brussels sprouts with 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder if using. Toss to coat evenly.
  4. Spread the Brussels sprouts cut-side down on a rimmed baking sheet in a single layer.
  5. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Flip the sprouts using tongs or a spatula and roast for another 5-10 minutes until golden and crispy at the edges.
  6. While the sprouts roast, whisk together 2 tablespoons honey and 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar in a small bowl until smooth and shiny.
  7. When the Brussels sprouts are done roasting, transfer them back to the mixing bowl or leave on the baking sheet. Drizzle the honey balsamic glaze over them and toss gently to coat evenly. Sprinkle a pinch of red pepper flakes if desired.
  8. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

For best crispiness, do not overcrowd the pan and pat Brussels sprouts dry before roasting. Add the honey balsamic glaze after roasting to prevent burning. Leftovers can be reheated in a skillet to maintain crispness. Substitute maple syrup for honey to make vegan.
