These crispy pizza rolls are a quick and easy homemade snack featuring a golden, crispy crust with melty cheese and zesty tomato sauce inside. Perfect for family gatherings, potlucks, or a comforting treat any time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (about 13.8 oz / 390 g) pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 ½ cups (about 170 g) shredded mozzarella cheese, fresh shredded
  • ½ cup (about 30 g) pepperoni slices, thinly sliced (turkey or veggie pepperoni can be swapped)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) marinara sauce, chunky style
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, for brushing
  • 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese, finely grated (optional)
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, a pinch each to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to about a 12×10 inch (30×25 cm) rectangle, about ¼ inch (6 mm) thick.
  3. Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about a ½ inch (1.25 cm) border around the edges.
  4. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper evenly over the sauce.
  5. Layer the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  6. Add pepperoni slices over the cheese, spacing them evenly.
  7. Carefully roll the dough from one long edge to the other, keeping it tight but not squishing the filling. Pinch the edges to seal well.
  8. Slice the roll into 1 to 1 ½ inch (2.5 to 4 cm) pieces using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, yielding about 10-12 rolls.
  9. Place the pizza rolls cut side up on the prepared baking sheet. Brush each roll generously with olive oil.
  10. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top if using.
  11. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until the crust is golden and crispy and the cheese is bubbling inside. Check after 12 minutes to avoid burning.
  12. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack for 5 minutes to keep crispiness.
  13. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping if desired.

Notes

Do not overload the filling to avoid soggy rolls. Chill dough briefly if too soft for easier handling. Brush olive oil generously for crispiness and golden color. Rotate baking sheet halfway through baking for even browning. Let rolls rest after baking to prevent burning your mouth on hot cheese. Freshly shredded mozzarella melts better than pre-shredded. For reheating, use oven at 375°F for 8-10 minutes to keep crust crispy. Avoid microwaving.
