A warm, frothy drink with caramel, butterscotch, and vanilla flavors that brings the magic of Harry Potter to life. Perfect for cozy evenings or themed parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole milk (or a dairy-free alternative like almond milk)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark works fine)
  • 1/4 cup butterscotch syrup (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (chilled)
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Extra butterscotch syrup drizzle (optional)
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium-low heat until warm but not boiling (about 3-4 minutes).
  2. Add the butter, brown sugar, and butterscotch syrup to the pan. Stir continuously until the sugar is dissolved and the butter is melted.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and mix in the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt. Let it simmer gently for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. While the Butterbeer base is warming up, prepare the topping. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract.
  5. Using an electric mixer or handheld whisk, beat the mixture until soft peaks form. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Once the Butterbeer base is ready, pour it into heatproof mugs.
  7. Top each mug with a generous dollop of the whipped cream mixture.
  8. Drizzle a little extra butterscotch syrup over the whipped cream and sprinkle with cinnamon or nutmeg for a festive touch.
  9. Serve immediately while it’s warm and enjoy the magical flavors!
