Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter with brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract, mixing well after each addition.
  5. Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed just until combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and optional chopped nuts with a spatula for even distribution.
