Gooey melted cheese, savory fillings, and soft rolls baked to golden perfection make these cheesy hot roll sandwiches the ultimate crowd-pleaser. Perfect for parties, potlucks, or family dinners, this recipe is quick, customizable, and always a hit.

Ingredients

  • Soft dinner rolls (e.g., Hawaiian rolls or slider buns)
  • Sliced deli meat (e.g., ham, turkey, or roast beef)
  • Sliced cheese (e.g., Swiss, cheddar, provolone, or mozzarella)
  • Unsalted butter, melted
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Dijon mustard
  • Garlic powder
  • Poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Using a sharp knife, slice the dinner rolls in half horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves intact. Place the bottom halves in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. Layer the sliced deli meat evenly over the rolls. Follow with the cheese slices, ensuring each roll gets a generous amount.
  4. Place the top halves of the rolls over the fillings to create sandwiches.
  5. In a small mixing bowl, combine melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, and poppy seeds (if using). Stir well.
  6. Using a pastry brush, spread the buttery mixture evenly over the top of the rolls.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the rolls are golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  8. Let the sandwiches cool slightly before serving. Use a spatula to lift them out of the dish and onto plates.

Notes

These sandwiches are best served warm, straight from the oven. For a vegetarian version, skip the meat and use roasted vegetables. If making ahead, refrigerate the assembled sandwiches and add extra baking time.
