These irresistible baked ham and cheese croissants combine flaky pastry, smoky ham, and gooey cheese into a delightful brunch treat that’s simple to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package refrigerated croissant dough
  • 8 slices thinly sliced deli ham
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese (or cheddar, provolone, Gruyere)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Unroll the croissant dough and separate it into triangles along the perforated lines. Lay them flat on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard on each triangle using a spoon or butter knife.
  4. Place a slice of ham and a slice of cheese on the wider end of each triangle. Fold the ham and cheese to fit neatly on the dough if needed.
  5. Starting at the wide end, gently roll up each croissant, tucking the ends under slightly to seal in the fillings.
  6. Beat one egg with a tablespoon of water and use a pastry brush to lightly coat each croissant with the egg wash.
  7. Bake the croissants in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are puffed and golden brown.
  8. Let the croissants cool for a few minutes before serving. They are best enjoyed warm.

Notes

[‘Don’t overfill the croissants to prevent bursting during baking.’, ‘Chill the dough if it becomes too soft and sticky.’, ‘Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavor profiles.’, ‘Pinch the edges of the croissant dough lightly to seal the filling.’, ‘Reheat leftovers in a toaster oven or regular oven to maintain the flaky texture.’]
